Snow on a Wednesday

Man, doesn't time just seem to fly by sometimes?? It's the paradox of it all... this winter seems to be so agonizingly slow, and yet, can you believe it's almost March? I found pictures from last year in March-- we were at the park wearing sweatshirts and hats. No bulky heavy coats, I can hardly wait. Meanwhile the snow keeps coming down...

This weekend was our annual Scrapbooking Weekend in the Wisconsin Dells. We meet my Aunt Beth and a couple of her friends from Ladysmith halfway at this place called Bloomin' Escapes, which can house up to 18 people. Can you imagine 18 women all smashed together in one house?? Sounds like my worst nightmare. There were six of us and another five ladies from other parts of Wisconsin, three quilters and two other scrappers. It was cool even though we had a rough start... and that's all I have to say about that!

Here are the results of three days work. If you click on the picture, it gives you a closer look:

I am really happy with the work I got done, and I feel like I'm evolving into the scrapbooker I want to be. Aww. Thanks for all the encouragement from my friends and family, I so need it!

Now I'm back and it's so good to be with my boy again. Amazing how much you can miss such a naughty little boy... Who's almost two I might add. Here we are making treats for the scrapbooking weekend:

And here he is hanging out under the table. I just love this little guy.

Happy shoveling!

Valentine's Day!

So I am usually not a huge fan of Valentine's Day, for obvious reasons, but this year I think it's different. Here's a peak why:

The hanging hearts have been up for a while. I feel like they are missing something but I can't figure out what. So this year, that's what you get. They are pretty and take up space.

I made Valentine's this year for just a few people. These two went to my sweetie and my other sweetie, the big and the lesser. I really like them. The valentines that is. And the recipients.

I wrapped Joe's little presents in construction paper from IKEA. You gotta love it when you're in a bind. I made the bow to match. I kinda like it, even better than stuff you buy at the store. Next time maybe I'll stamp it or something.

And this one is from Owen to his Daddy. The heart is made from cutting Owen's hands out of paper and interlocking the thumbs. I got the idea from Sprout (a whole TV channel for preschoolers), which Owen gets a good healthy dose of every day. Like I said in an earlier post, Sesame Street is your FRIEND.

So happy Valentine's Day! Wishing you lots of love on this day, or at least giving you permission to buy and consume an entire bag of peanut m'n'ms (we're talking 2 lb bags) or whatever sweet things happen to be your vise. It's definitely on my list today. xoxo

On the edge of your seats?

Finally, you can breath easy. Here's the payoff:

I know, I totally watched it like eighteen times in row too! Isn't it great?? I know, I think so too. Enjoy.

I'm too old...

Yes, it's true. Let it sink in... I'm officially too old for American Idol. I will never be up there, singing my heart out with Lady Gaga wannabes, trying to remember the words to some terrible pop song you hear a thousand times a day on 101.9 the MIX, or worse, LITE FM. I will never give a tearful, "I just want to make a better life for my family, please, please give me another shot!!" So sad. But also let it be known that my life on Tuesdays and Wednesdays revolves around this television show, and although I might act totally nonchalant a
nd cool if I miss it, know also that my DVR is looking out for me. Yes I know. I'm that girl.

On another note, I think I need a Ford Focus. Seriously. It records all your CDs for you and lets you call someone by saying, "Call Emily." Um, yeah. They thought of me and then thought of that feature. Because I haven't figured out how to use my phone yet anyway, let alone while I'm trying to operate a motorized vehicle.

There's also a ton of other cool stuff that it does but I don't know what. I'm sure it's awesome though. Plus it's almost identical to my last car I had until Owen came along, my little Honda Civic Hatchback. The smallest car known to man until they invented the Smart Car, or the Not-So-Smart Car, as my stepkids call it.

On another note, have you seen that Coke commercial?? It's so awesome. Like, so awesome. I mean, if I was born a commercial instead of a human being, I would be this commercial. I can't find it on youtube, which, I know, is a total disappointment, so I'm sorry. I used all my search words for it but can't find it. Don't worry I'm on the lookout. Emily, can you find it for me? It's like a cartoon of a hipster puppy and a metalhead bodybuilder who talk in music and they don't get each other and then their word bubbles mix and become parts of the same song! Or something like that.

Wow, what a boring post this is. In the past week I turned 30 and apparently lost my daggone mind. But I did go to the gym, put Owen in their daycare, and took a couple gentle yoga classes. Which felt great. That's me in that picture, looking pretty good for 30. I even took a shower there once. If I was writing Brit's health Pyramid report this weekend (Brit, my 6th grade stepdaughter) then I would report that I was working on the physical side of the pyramid since the mental side is slipping. Let's not talk about the social aspect of that pyramid. Yikes. Here's to the big three-ohhhhhhh.....

Oh, I should say that I had a really good birthday. My handsome husband got me a gift certificate to a little piece of heaven, Anthropologie. I haven't been there in person for a while so I'm so I'm really excited to see what their displays are like right now. If I worked there I would totally yoink all that stuff for my house...

And my friend Katie proved that I'm not too old to wear shirts like this:

Yeah, I know I'm fly. Thanks Katie!!

And I won a scrapbooking book from Mou Saha's blog !! How cool was that, on my friggin birthday! Plus I really wanted it in the first place. I entered at like, every blog that had the giveaway.

Also I just want to say, that I love this boy. Because of this:

Happy Wednesday!

To Make You Happy

A gray Monday, but no complaints here. I had my last knee appointment with Dr. Watt, and he is happy with how things went. No heavy knee activities for another couple months, but mid-April I should be doing all the crazy things I do with my knees. You know, like crazy Whitney Houston dance moves. Hooray!

I watched Benny and Joon this weekend. Have you seen it? It's wonderful.

It also made me remember this song. What a couple weird looking dudes.

I always thought I would end up with someone more like Sam

but then again I thought I'd grow up to be a bit more like Joon

Neither of those things happened, thank goodness!

One more thing to leave you with. Got this song stuck in my head for some reason.

Thought you'd all like to be a part of my madness. And as long as I'm at it, here's some vintage Whitney Houston.

I hope you enjoy these blasts from the pasts. I am a bit annoyed myself but hopefully I have gotten it all out of my system! Nothing dates you like horrible music. And if you watched the Whitney Houston video, I hope you saw the fancy dance moves she had in there. Mid-April, I'll be back at it.
